Valley College Master Plan

Client: LACCD

Scope: Aesthetic Master Plan

Size: 150 Acres

Completion: 2012

Project Manager: Lautaro Galvez, AIA

Valley College is a 105-acre community college located in the heart of the San Fernando Valley. Valley is continuing an expansion program that includes construction of eight new buildings and renovation of existing buildings and classrooms. Of these new buildings, half will be significantly larger and taller than any of the older structures. They will also, by necessity, differ in materials and style from the one-story stucco classrooms that will remain.

Landscape and infrastructure projects are also part of the expansion program. Entries, quadrangles, and parking lots will be renovated and improved.

The goals of this Aesthetic Master Plan are first, to understand the character of the existing campus so that Valley’s positive qualities are recognized and preserved; Second, to develop a vocabulary for new building and landscape construction so that each project plays a positive role in creating a revitalized and unified Valley College campus.
